Wake up late in the morning and look from the balcony down onto winding narrow streets. Art lovers in Italy are like a duck to water. Not a single country in the world can boast of such a variety of works of art and architecture gathered over 30 centuries and concentrated on the relatively small area of the country. Rome, Florence, Naples, Milan and Palermo are museum towns preserving the cultural heritage of all Europe. Rome had been a conquering state. But when the ancient wars were over, the Italic land started to capture the world another way – by the power of art, captivating hearts. Italian painting schools formed the beauty criteria for the entire civilized world. Italian discoveries in architecture created the image of all European cities. Italian opera was and remains the most amazing phenomenon in the world of music. Making the best violins in the world, inventing colored inks, canvas and composition laws… It seems that the beauty of the Italian land itself nurtures inspiration and creativity.
They say that local landscapes look as if they were specially made for painting. Not a single country in the world has been portrayed in such detail in thousands of paintings. Beautiful peaks and mountain slopes, chains of vineyards, ever-blue skies and stripes of ploughed land… Since ancient times Italy has been a country of idyll. And this idyllic environment has been preserved to the present day. You can walk among the ancient hills all day long breathing fresh air redolent with the scent of orange and almond trees, lemon gardens and vineyards.
Italy is a country of mountains. It starts from the southern slopes of the Alps. The entire “boot” of the peninsula is indented with mountain ranges of various altitudes. Some mountains are restless: there are active volcanoes here – the famous Vesuvius, Stromboli and Etna. Other summits are covered with sparkling snow. Here, at 12 resorts, there is everything necessary for skiers: a vast choice of pistes (over a thousand) of various difficulty levels and hotels – the Italians have accumulated experience in organizing outdoor activities for hundreds of years, as far back as the Renaissance.
If you like beach vacations more, all the Italian coasts are at your service. The most famous sights are the golden beaches of Sicily, glittering waters near Sardinia, the stunningly beautiful shores of Tuscany. Find small coastal villages unknown to tourists and indulge in the peaceful life while bathing and tasting local wines. Thermal resorts established in the time of ancient Romans are also situated in Italy, near Naples and Florence. To this day, they offer their guests long-lasting health and strength. Those who prefer exquisite rest will love the coast of Liguria – it’s a stone’s throw from the French Côte d’Azur, and these resorts are of quite similar levels.
And finally, Italy values passion for romance (the word itself has the same root as “Rome”). If you want to see with your own eyes the city of Verona where the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet took place or sail among 188 wonders of the world on the waters of Venice, to listen to the gondoliers’ music and experience the Middle Ages to the full extent, all these are possible in Italy.
Modern Italy is a country of economic boom, rich and flourishing, and part of the European Union. Unlike other countries, Italy is more reckless. The sincere and cheerful character of the country doesn’t prevent it from being in the list of leaders of national well-being and development prospects.
Perhaps it is because every day in Italy is a choice between varieties of splendid opportunities.
