Peyia is a small but precious pearl of the Cypriot coast. Once it used to be a sleepy village, but for several years now the name of Peyia is repeatedly mentioned by everyone who wants to make the generous land of Cyprus their home. It is easy to understand why when you see the houses sinking in blossom located on the cliffs, how the magnificent line of turquoise sea looks from above; and the peak in the Gulf of Akamas lifts up in the north as a stronghold of life untouched by civilization.

Only five miles away is the wonderful Coral Bay health resort, where one can find shopping, clubs and a glamorous port. Somewhere nearby there is Paphos with its airport, architectural and archeological wonders and brisk southern vitality.
And here in Peyia you can walk in shady streets filled with pine mountain fragrance and understand that perhaps the main charms of Peyia are in the lack of fuss and living life to the full at the same time. A bottle of local golden wine (well known even to ancient people), “meze” seafood, tropical shadow and the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea under terraces, gardens and cottages look like heaven on earth. But if this life seems too quiet, you can always go down to the sea. All kinds of water sports and leisure will be at your service. You can also paraglide and see Cyprus from high above, maybe like the Classical Greek gods saw it.
Quiet Peyia changes in the night. The heat of the day is over, and the small restaurants (local Greek and exotic, for example, Chinese), cafés and quays are filled with people. Cheerful laughter, jokes and sincere hospitality – this is what the Greeks can boast of since ancient times. Foot-tapping “sirtaki” involves an endless number of people in its chain (the record for Cyprus is nearly 2 000 dancers simultaneously). Energy and love bubble up from the Cypriots. They will be glad to share this secret with you: it’s in a wonderful spring near Peyia from which girls draw water in red clay jugs. The spring water makes everyone who tries it younger and happier.
